Vocabulary terms from chapters 5-10
plus
alternative - a choice limited to one of two possibilities
complicate - to make complex, intricate, involved, or difficult
consequence - the effect, result, or outcome of something occurring earlier
define - to explain or indetify the nature or qualities of, describe
exaggerate - to magnify beyond the limits of truth; overstate
identify - to recognize or establish as being a person or thing; verify the identity
impact - influence, effect
major - great in size or importance
tradition - the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends customs, info., etc. from generation to generations, especially by word of mouth or by practice
resistance - the opposition offered by one thing, force, etc., to another
political conflict - disagreement, fight, opposition within or about a government
perspective/point of view - an opinion, attitude, or judgment
historical - belonging to the past
immigration - moving from one place to another
migration - a move of a large number of people from one place to another
​individual liberty - the liberty of an individual to exercise freely those rights generally accepted as being outside of government control
individual rights - powers or privileges that belong to people that should not be taken away by the government
democratic ideals - a society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges 
compromise - an agreement reached by two sides
