Students received a vocabulary list that they will work with by selecting three tasks in a row using their vocabulary list. This is due on Monday, however the words will be used in the assessment on Friday.

We started going over our Close and Critical from earlier in the week for grading.
Students will in their small groups go through and read chapters 6 and 7. They will collaborate on notes and establish roles for the second round of group work.
Students received their focus questions to answer for chapter 1-6. These 3 questions need to be answered completely and should cite and evidence that is needed to support a student's claim.
today students went over in great detail with their group chapters 1-6 of the novel. Since this is a mystery, students are to treat each character as a potential suspect. Take great notes on each.
today students watched and took notes on a suspenseful Twilight Zone episode. Tomorrow they will watch parts again and formulate answers for a Close and Critical.
Homework: students need to have a revised Close and Critical from yesterday ready for assessment tomorrow. Westing Game chapter 1-3 roles forms due tomorrow as well.
Students will write out each word five times each, write the definition of the word, and write a sentence that properly uses the vocabulary term. Underline the word in the sentence.

Today students took the worksheet they had been working with and set about creating a short story that would fall within the Mystery genre. It must include all the elements presented on the worksheet from the previous nights homework.
Today students started with a brainstorming session and then 1/2 page quick write explaining what the mystery genre is.
Students then worked on the worksheets
Students wrote their second draft of their argument writing papers. They then conferenced with peers for editing of conventions. After that they met with me and I checked their papers and gave advice for final drafts.
Study for spelling and vocab test on Friday, and have final draft of argument paper on Monday
