Today while I was out for training students started by silent reading. They followed that up with getting a worksheet packet that asks students to pick a side of an argument and support their decision with Pros and identifying the Cons. Then students read and did marginalia on a song from the Alexander Hamilton musical. Students then followed up the reading section with answering two more argument questions and supporting both the Pros and Cons of each question. The worksheet packet is due Wednesday.
Today students worked independently on a few assignments that they have due in the next few days. They get their choice of one or multiple assignments to work on that can include:
Tier 2 Vocabulary List
students are to create a book with one page dedicated to each word. Each page must include the word root. Its meaning. Five examples of the word root being used in a word correctly. It should be clear and easy to read. Students will take a test on these word roots next Friday. The Book is due next Friday as well.
Today students watched a video on Isaiah Bird and will use the video as one of the three sources in completing the Performance Task on their Common Assessment. The video is below. Please make sure to look up how to properly cite this source before using it.
Students started by reading through the directions and source materials of the Common Assessment. They were not given homework short of properly reading through the articles again. Tomorrow students will do the guided highlighted marginalia and watch the accompanying video segment as part of the build up to the narrative writing assignment that goes along with it.
