Today students read the Tell Tale Heart by EAP and then had a brief discussion about it. The writing is a great example of pacing and imagery and notes were taken using each of the reading strategies used on our reading logs.
I also have posted a reading of The Raven by EAP so tomorrow will be less difficult to deconstruct and work on the packet students will be given.
Students got packets for this week's Week in Rap This needs to be completed by Monday. The lyrics are located below.
Students also started reading The Monkey's Paw. We will continue to read this on Monday, but questions will be due on Tuesday.
The Hitchhiker -
Students read through this audio play over the last two days. Today we finished reading it and answered questions 1-4 at the end and either question 5, or quick write questions 1 or 2.
Students read through, took notes on, and worked on their roles for the chapter. Tomorrow we will have an author in at the school, so class will be more focused on that.
Today students reread a biography on the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe. They were to do marginalia with the reading as well.
Homework: revise close and critical from yesterday. Use notes assembled earlier in class.
Students who were not on best behavior with my guest teacher on Wednesday need to include the summary of the biography on Edgar Allan Poe as part of their homework due tomorrow.
Lots on the agenda for the day
Students wrote their second draft of their argument writing papers. They then conferenced with peers for editing of conventions. After that they met with me and I checked their papers and gave advice for final drafts.
Study for spelling and vocab test on Friday, and have final draft of argument paper on Monday
