Today after going through and collecting notes on the Titanic, students are to answer the writing prompt.
"During the 1900's, thousands of people traveled by sea. It was a common misconception that the Titanic was unsinkable. Why do you think so many people believed this misconception? Use the information presented to you today and any prior knowledge you have of this time period to answer this."
Today after a quickwrite that had students writing about what they would do with a film version of the The Westing Game, Full Page due Tomorrow, Students then watched part of the PG movie Clue. They were to write down notes that compare and contrast the movie Clue to the novel The Westing Game.
Today students either worked on their Literacy Club notes or they worked on their Notebook for the Westing Game. Both of these will be due this week for grades.
Today students watched a classic episode of the Twilight Zone called The Monsters are Due on Maple Street. Using this video, students answered Close and Critical questions.
1) What was the video? Summarize the movie
2) How does it say it? In other words, how does the author develop the story to convey his/her purpose? What are the genre, format, organization, and story elements. (give at least 3 examples of suspense)
3) What is the message, theme, or concept the author is trying to get across in the film?
4) So What? (Connect the theme t your life or the lives of others.)
