Quiz on Chapter 1 Tomorrow
Today students turned in three Close and Critical and used their reading strategies for their Literacy Club notes. These will be graded this week.
Today we started class by having our groups present their authentic assessments on The Breadwinner.
We followed that up with watching the second half of our special report on life in Afghanistan and how young girls are being passed off as young boys to get them education and better life if even temporarily.
Video linked the same as yesterday. Using this video, students answered Close and Critical questions.
1) What was the video? Summarize the movie
2) How does it say it? In other words, how does the author develop the story to convey his/her purpose? What are the genre, format, organization, and story elements. (give at least 3 examples of suspense)
3) What is the message, theme, or concept the author is trying to get across in the film?
4) So What? (Connect the theme t your life or the lives of others.)
Students watched the first part of a news report about living with a secret in Afghanistan and are analyzing it to answer close and critical questions. Tomorrow students will present their group projects covering The Breadwinner.
