Students are doing an extended research argument project in social studies, and since I will be evaluating their final project in ELA as well, I offered today to work on it in my class as well. Students were given time to research, plan, write, edit, and type whatever step in the process they are currently at. This time is because of the assignment being both a reflection of their social studies research, but of their ELA writing process.
Students today had a chance to do some independent reading and were given their assignment for home reading in the form of a Home Reading Log. This HRL is going to be given out every Monday and is expected to be completed, signed by a parent, and turned in the following Monday. In this case the first completed HRL will be due in the Turn-In Box on Monday 11/20. Extra copies of the HRL are available to download and print from here.
